Stellar

Stellar (XLM) is a decentralized network launched in 2014 by the Stellar Development Foundation. Serving as a cross-border transfer and payment system, Stellar connects financial institutions, banks, payment systems, and individuals. The goal is to create a unified global financial infrastructure by enabling almost instant and secure transfers at minimal costs. Similar to how the internet revolutionized global information transfer, Stellar aims to do the same for money. To realize this vision and remain neutral, Stellar is organized not as a bank or company but as a decentralized, open network supported by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation (SDF). The network's native digital currency, XLM or Lumens, serves as an intermediary currency for operations and also pays transaction fees.
